Default Adult or Junior Goggles at age 10?

My son is on a swim team. He currently is wearing TYR Swimples, which seem like they should be too small for him. While they seem to be working around his eyes, the strap is getting a little too short for his head circumference. He is small for his age, but his head is also on the large side. The fact that he is able to use the Swimples fine makes me think a Junior sized goggle is the way to go (like the junior Vanquishers or Tracers). But the fact that his head is large, and it seems that other kids his age use the adult sizes fine, makes me think he might be ready for the adult sized versions. Also know that I could do a junior sized goggle but get a bungee strap so it fits around his head better.

Unfortunately, don't live somewhere where he can try on any to see how they work (Dick's doesn't like you opening up packages).

Just curious what other parents have been using for kids around age 10. Not so much style, but junior versus adult sized.

Default Goggles

On our swim team we have kids that range from 5 to 18. Even some to the high school kids still wear the swimple goggles. The main thing is fit and comfort. You do not want to make your kid hate swimming because he or she hates the goggles they have to wear. If they can wear the tyr and like I would suggest staying in them if you can.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of those swimple goggles for competitive swimming.

What I've actually seen as being the most universally-fitting goggles are the women's vanquishers. They seem to fit, kids, adults, men, women, etc. without a problem.

Jr. vs. adults is a hard question, because they can vary sooo much from style to style. Some goggles (like the hydrospex by Speedo) actually come in Adult, Jr.'s, AND kids.

But again, as a coach and someone who works in a swim store, I can give my #1 recommendation as the women's vanquishers.

Maybe you can ask some of his friends/teammates to try their goggles on to see which fit him best?
