I definitely start with a banana, for the potassium factor. Peanut butter on toast is good too, for the carbs. Lately, I've been eating Special K with Strawberries (yes... the dried kind that come with the cereal, not fresh) and it tastes good and stays down.

Have you tried making smoothies? I'm typically too lazy myself (especially for the those early morning swim sessions) but that with a protein boost would be the perfect energy.

I try something similar. Porridge with Blueberries, raisins and walnuts (maybe some cinnamon) and a good cup of strong tea. Then just plain old water. It is hard to digest, but tough! Just get up a little earlier, sport is more then just working out. It's a lifestyle. If you made the choice to work out in the morning, that means you chose that lifestyle. Live by it, then.

Also, don't just drink Gatorade or any sportsdrink because you think it's better for you. Use your head instead of just reading the labels. The human body is a perfect machine if you take care of it. Stick to the essentials, like fresh food and water. Your "machine" doesn't really need anything else. It's like pourring two kinds of gasoline in your car at the same time. Sure it might work and it might even go faster. But it doesn't really need it.
