Default Best Shampoo and Body Wash

Hi there! I'm new to the forum and have been aquacizing and swimming about 3X week for a few weeks now. But what gets me the most and really deters me from wanting to get back into the pool is the CHLORINE! :P I use the pool at my gym, which is pumped so full of chlorine I can smell it as soon as I walk into the gym. My hair is not being damaged by it yet, but I feel like it will be. I do not want to wear a swim cap, because I'm I have issues with things being around my head...(call me crazy!). But even worse than my hair is my skin! For days afterwards I STILL have the smell of chlorine on me and my skin itches like crazy! So it makes me not want to go back into the pool knowing I will suffer for a few days afterwards...and worse yet my swim schedule is set up that I go almost every other day, so I never fully recover. I'm sure this is a common problem and I'm wondering if anyone can give me the best products you have used to eliminate the chlorine. Not just mask the odor! My skin and I thank you!

This is a common interest in almost every swimmer out there! I have to say that unless the chlorine level is "unhealthy", you should be fine health wise. With regard to your hair being in a cap, at least in our facility, all members with hair longer than their chins are required to wear a cap and it is suggested to everyone else. Aside from protecting the swimmer's hair, it helps maintain the filter system of the pool.

To get the smell out of your skin you can take a 10 - 15 minute steam (if your facility has a steam room) which almost eliminates the chlorine from your pores.

UltraSwim makes a shampoo and a moisturizer that work very well at eliminating the chlorine from your hair. And you can use the shampoo on your body to get it off your skin! These can be found at several grocery chains (around here, Meijer carries them all year long) or at many swim shops or online.

The other thing that my swimmers swear by is mixing baking soda with regular shampoo or body wash. You make a paste and leave it in your hair while you scrub your body. It leaves your hair and skin really soft and gets rid of any odor. My kids use the UltraSwim on a daily basis then the baking soda once a week. Both my guys have that long, shaggy swimmer's hair but it's soft and looks well-conditioned.

Great suggestions! Thank you! Our gym does have a steam room, so I will have to try that on Monday. It's kinda intimidating though...large men enjoy it thoroughly!
I've heard good things about UltraSwim. I will have to pick some up! Thanks! And baking soda is a cheap method to try as well!

Try TRISWIM products. They make Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash and Lotion

They work better than anything else I've tried!

I saw UltraSwim at a swim shop, didn't like the scent as it was more for women. How is the scent of the TriSwim products? Anyone use Malibu C products?
