Default What are the dangers from chlorine?

Hello to everybody!!!

Well I have just started swimming and I was wandering whether there are any dangers from the chlorine that is used in pool water in the long run. Does anybody knows something on this subject?

Health wise..unless you are allergic...NOTHING....the only exception is dry skin and dry hair, both of which are manageable with lotion and conditioner.

I don't know about long term health effects of chlorine, but I know that I don't like smelling like chlorine for the rest of the day after swimming. I find if I go in the sauna after swimming and stay in the sauna long enough to get a good sweat going that it seems to sweat out all the chlorine smell. If I just take a shower after swimming, I can still smell chlorine on myself for a long time after.

I agree; unless you are alergic to the Cl, there is really no long term health risk that I am aware of.

I use a lot of lotion and conditioner, but still has a lot of dry skin on the face and sometimes it hurts.

Any suggestion on the best lotion for this particular dry skin from chlorine.

I know a lot of my swimmers use baby lotion for their dry skin.

Don't forget about stinging eyes to go along with dry skin.
