Question Gaining time?

I have recently been gaining time in swimming. I was just wondering how I could get back to my fastest and then start dropping. I also want to drop 2 seconds in my 50 free maybe even 4 in the next 7 months. Any tips on this.

Thats what I did last season. I swam about 1:32 for 100 breast at the beginning of the season. Right before the end of the end of the season I swam 1:43. It's normal to plateau. I now am swimming a lot faster and I think I will swim under 1:26 this season. It happens to almost everyone. You'll start improving soon.

Default Gaining time

If you are gaining time the best thing you can do is to increase your intensity at practice. That is the fastest way to improve. Also if you are sticking to the same practice schedule you might want to change that up as well because your body will get used to the work out.

I assume that you're training as part of a USA-Swimming team?

Look at the calendar. It's the end of November. You're likely pretty close to your most intense training of the season. Just be patient and keep working hard. Have faith in the system. Come championship season in the Spring, as you start to taper, you will see those seconds melt away. Make sure you tune your goals to the training cycle.

Expecting to drop 2-4 seconds 7 months from now puts you in June, which is likely at the beginning/peak of the summer season, so probably won't happen on exactly that time frame. Making your goal to drop 2-4 seconds in 4 months (around Feb. or March, when the championships seasons are for most swimmers) or again in 8 months when the summer champs. are is a more realistic goal.
