Default Waterproof MP3 player for leisure swim

After searching this in the forums i've found that all the suggestions for waterproof mp3 players were quite expensive $150-$200. I googled and found this
FREESTYLE AUDIO 2GB WATERPROOF MP3 PLAYER BLUE 2GB/BLUE
Could I not use this while swimming?

That looks good, have you tried it yet?

I use the gear from H20 Audio. It's endorsed by Nat Coughlin (US Olympian) and their warranty covers all your iPod equipment. If you have an iPod of any sort they make a waterproof case for it and their headphones are top notch. Has anyone else used their equipment or got any other brands they like?

Here is the H20 Audio website if you're looking for it. www.h20audio.com

The H2OAudio was originally designed for surfers (I believe) but it does work well for swim workouts at the pool. I would opt for the "Interval" system and avoid anything like "Amphibex" for a swim application. Too bulky and the cord layout will only create drag and tangles.

I had a friend who showed up with an Interval and he loves it. Strange, but I asked if I could put an earphone in one ear to test it out. It seemed to hold in there nicely (I was afraid it would keep falling out, or something). Sound quality is good too. I agree with BrentonFord... this might be a better system for swim application. Not quite an "iPod" but compatible with one. Just make sure you check the specs before you buy.

The one thing I don't know is whether you can download songs without having an iPod? I'm assuming any MP3 would work, but they spend an awful lot of ink promoting how it's "compatible with iPod" (I don't have an iPod!)

I just bought the Swimman Waterproof Shuffle and I think it works great! The sound is wonderful, and it's easy to load and wear in the pool.

Check out h2oaudio.com, we did design The Interval Headphone system just for swimmers. If you want, feel free to use the code 'thanks729' for 25% off anything in the on-line store. And also, thanks to the folks on this thread who gave us love! We appreciate it, so the code above is for you too.

Hi,

I just joined this forum to ask about waterproof mp3 players. I'm looking for a reliable, easy-to-use player that won't break the bank. I'm not picky - I only need it for swimming, so I don't need all the bells and whistles.

I don't have an iPod, so I am looking for the complete player, not just a case.

What has worked consistently (not just at the beginning) for others?

Thanks,

Rachel

I know that H2O audio is probably the most popular one, which has to say something. They make one that's basically like an ipod shuffle for 119$, not sure if it includes waterproof headphones. I'm sure Dana could shed more light on that.

Speedo also recently put one out that they recycled the LZR name on. Speedo is typically the best brand for swimming equipment, but audio is not necessarily their niche.
